El diviso
El Diviso, located in Colombia’s Normandia district, is a family-run farm led by Jose Uribe Lasso and his three sons. They are dedicated to cultivating exceptional coffee through innovative methods and the careful selection of unique varieties. The farm spans 14 hectares at an altitude of 1770m and harvests once a year, from October to December. All coffee is meticulously handpicked at peak ripeness and naturally dried under controlled conditions to preserve its quality.
The Lasso brothers, Nestor and Adrian, took over the farm five years ago, shifting focus to specialty coffee and experimentation. Today, at ages 22 and 24, they have partnered with fellow generational coffee farmer Jhoan Vergara to create the El Diviso estate, uniting two family farms—El Diviso and Las Flores. Together, they are committed to pushing the boundaries of coffee quality and preserving the natural landscape surrounding their farm.
Ombligon
Ombligon is a rare and unique Arabica variety with origins that remain uncertain. Currently, it is exclusively grown in the Huila region of Colombia. The variety gets its name, "Ombligon," meaning "belly button" in Spanish, from its distinctive shape.Lohas Beans, a specialty coffee exporter founded by Juan Pablo Campos, works closely with Nestor Lasso at Finca El Diviso, a well-known Colombian coffee producer who cultivates several unique Arabica varieties, including Ombligon. It is believed that Ombligon is related to an Ethiopian heirloom variety and may have naturally mutated, sharing traits with native Colombian varieties like Caturra. Known for its wide leaves, closely clustered cherries, and high yields, Ombligon is also resistant to coffee leaf rust, making it a valuable crop. It thrives best at altitudes between 1,600 and 1,800 meters above sea level in Huila.
