Dorval spent his childhood with his family on their farm in Muniz Freire. Initially he planned to move to Rio de Janeiro to study, but not long into his studies he decided to return home to the community he knew well and continue to work with the farm.

His father unfortunately fell ill and could not manage the farm by himself and as such Dorval took over the administration and began investing in specialty coffee with the planting of new cultivars : including Catucaí 2SL and Catucaí 785.

Dorval focuses on developing his washed coffee, seeking to improve each harvest. Despite being awarded top ten coffees in Muniz Freire in recent seasons, he is yet to be satisfied with his current work and continues to invest in his washed processing and property efficiencies.
